We left beautiful Urunga on Thursday & headed for Lismore to see John's cousin & his family who we've not seen for several years. They live in Modanville which is about 10-15 mins from Lismore on the way to Nimbin & is a place we'd consider moving to.
We had a great night catching up with Brad & Trish while the kids all had a ball together & you'd never know they didn't see each other regularly. We woke the next day & got ready to leave so they could get Myles to soccer at Lennox Head.
So we headed off for Byron Bay via Bangalow. We were going to stop but alas another place with no parking for caravan's.... how inconsiderate.. so we carried on to Byron. It was beautiful but a little windy so we donned jumpers, parked he van at Captain Cook beach & off we went on our walk to the lighthouse.
Our walk ended up being quite a hike taking us through Palm Valley, to Wotego Beach & one of the ritzy secluded areas of this town. We climbed up & down following the path along the coast line, stoping to catch our breath & admire the view. We even managed to see a pod of dolphins. Arriving at what we thought was a little walk to the eastern most part of Australia we were almost blown away. It was so windy & there was a very silly man fishing off the very rugged rocks & I'm not sure he climbed off them or was washed off.
I'm not sure who's been to Byron Bay lighthouse but let me tell you.... drive, don't walk. I had to try to keep the kids motivated to climb the hill along with myself while John strode ahead. Considering the effort it took, we managed to conquer the climb & almost get blown away when we reached the top.
We've been at mum & dad's since saturday & it feels like we're here for a holiday & will be heading home when we leave here cause we've done the things we usually do when we come here. Carara markets for breaky, Surfers' for ice cream & fishing, fishing, fishing..... I was the winner of the haul today with 1 toad fish & 2 little whiting. John & Lauren both caught 2 each aswell. John & Hayden are down there now trying more luck.....
We leave here on Wednesday heading for Bundaberg then Emerald & Mackay for the weekend to see Jick, Sean, Matty, Caitlin & Spotty & hopefully a trip on the reef.
Hey Karen, sounds like your having an awsome time. There is a beautiful fish and chip shop with the best fish and calamari I've ever tasted at Brunswick Heads - its called Starfish and is right opposite the park near the lake. If you get this whilst your still in the area I highly recommend it. The staff are friendly and they hand make everything themselves. Its worth a visit!! Take care and safe travels.... xx Kerryn
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Kerryn, I'll make sure we visit there on our trip up at Xmas. We were at Tweed visiting John's Aunty & Uncle yesterday but she made a fab batch of pikelets with jam & cream & appeared i ate too many...

Safe travel, I know John is a careful driver, and most of all, lots of fun and great adventures. Keep in touch, and love you all. Next visit will be December, which is not so far away!!!
