Overlooking Whitehaven Beach on the Whitsunday's on a stunning day. We went out on the reef for the day & it was great. We left early in the morning, headed to the marina via the bus & waited for the rest to arrive. There were about 70 people all together & we were lucky to be one of the first on the boat so we took poll position (true Penrose style) on the top deck out the back for the best views. We liberally applied the SPF30+, donned our hats & took off. The first stop was Tongue Bay where we saw a turtle then offloaded for a short bushwalk to the lookout which is where the kids are. Then back to the boat for lunch while travelling round the corner to Whitehaven Beach where we hopped off for a swim in the fresh water. We also had some photo's taken by the cruise photographer (john loved posing for those), we got a couple of really nice shots too.
Back on the boat & we headed off to Border Island for the snorkelling. WOW this was something. I was a little overwhlemed by the size of the coral & how close we were to it. I kept pulling Hayden back cause I thought we were too close but all was good. We saw some amazing fish including swimming through them while they were being fed, rather freaky this was. It was certainly an amazing thing & yes we saw a Nemo fish - sorry Billy but your's are tiny.
The trip home was made even more special when we saw a whale & her calf. I managed to see her tail when she dived but then she cruised a little way from where we were.
So that was our Whitsunday's experience.
